A few interesting facts about Campania

The name of the city of Benevento was changed in 321 BC from Beneventum to Maleventum, after a war defeat of the Roman army. It was the victory at the Battle of Pisso (274 BC) that prompted the Romans to restore the original name: Beneventum.

The first daily newspaper printed in Italy was called Diario Notizioso. It was 1759 and publications continued in Naples for about 3 years, describing the lives of the saint of the day and economic events.

The popularity of homeopathic medicine in Italy started in Naples in 1822. Chronicles of the time report that Franz von Koller, an Austrian general, donated some of Hahnemann's works to the Royal Academy of Sciences, making the new theory available to influential doctors. In the early 1800s, the first homeopathic experiments had already taken place to treat scarlet fever, but the therapy had no followers. After 1822, however, it became popular very quickly.
